Bering Sea is Warming Forcing an “Ecosystem Change”

Scientists have found that temperatures in the Bering Sea are warming. This is bad news for wildlife that is dependent on bottom-dwelling creatures that thrive in cold temperatures. Species affected are said to be sea ducks, gray whales, bearded seals and walruses. 
“We’re seeing that a change in the physical conditions is driving a change in the ecosystems,” says Jackie Grebmeier, from the University of Tennessee and co-author of the study published in the journal Science. “What we are seeing is a change in the boundary between the sub-Arctic and the Arctic ecosystem. The potential is real for an ecosystem shift that will be felt father north.”
