Naked Bike Ride Raises Climate and Oil Issues
It’s all hotting up over the G8 Summit next week, where climate and oil will be high on the agenda.
One confrontation seems to have been avoided though. In Brighton, police have finally given the go ahead for one of the rallies for World Naked Bike Ride. This year’s protest hopes to raise awareness of climate change and oil dependency around the G8.
After warning that cyclists might face arrest and £160 fines, the police seem to have given way to the protesters and finally allowed the cycle ride to go ahead. Chief Supt Paul Pearce had warned the cyclists: “It is very likely we will receive numerous complaints from people feeling harassed, alarmed or distressed at the sight of naked adults in public.”
If the British weather is anything like it has been for the last few days, then cycling naked could be a rather chilly affair to say the least…
