U.S. Objects to Pretty Much Everything on Climate at G8

Greenpeace has posted a leaked copy of the Bush Administration’s comments on the draft climate change document that is being negotiated in the run-up to the G8 meeting in Germany. The document needs to be seen to be believed.

The U.S. position seems to that every item of any substance whatsoever needs to be removed. Germany had originally been pushing for a historic breakthrough at the G8 meeting, but they have begun lowering expectations in recent days in the face of U.S. intransigence.
