Its that time of year again with the annual UN climate meeting, called the conference of the Parties, or COP, just a couple of weeks away. This year’s meeting, COP27, will take place from 6-18 November 2022 at the luxury resort of in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.
New research, published in Nature Climate Change, has found “an almost complete loss of stability over the last century” of the ocean currents known as AMOC or more commonly the Gulf Stream. The currents are already at their slowest point for 1,600 years. But scientists worry that AMOC could be reaching a tipping point, leading to a total collapse.
Just as we have seen dark money fund climate denial and undermine climate discourse, it now seems to be undermining American justice, too.
