June 24th 2024, marked the third Anniversary of the wrongful arrest and imprisonment in Vietnam of the environmental lawyer and climate justice advocate, Dang Dinh Bach.

The wheels of oppression have turned again. We have known for a while that Vietnam has been systematically silencing its environmental critics under false pretenses.

There is growing international pressure on Vietnam to release three environmental activists who have been imprisoned in the country on trumped up tax-related charges. We urge you to take action to persuade the Vietnamese authorities to release the activists and safeguard the rights of human rights defenders in Vietnam.

Earlier this month, Vietnam's leading environmentalist, Nguy Thi Khanh was sentenced to prison on trumped up tax evasion charges, which have widely been condemned as an attempt to silence her and her campaign against dirty coal. Today, OCI is calling for her release.
