Rubber stamp of Shell’s Arctic Drilling plan nothing short of climate denial
In response to the announcement from BOEM to grant conditional approval for Shell’s 2015 Arctic Exploration Plan, David Turnbull, Campaigns Director of Oil Change International released the following statement:
“Today’s decision to rubber stamp Shell’s 2015 Arctic Exploration Plan is yet another example of the dangerous disconnect between our climate imperatives and the Obama administration’s energy policy, and amounts to nothing short of climate denial. The only thing that Shell has managed to demonstrate over recent months and years is that the climate is simply a casualty of their business plan and that the Arctic environment is only worth as much as the oil you can get out of it. The bottom line is there are no conditions in a climate safe world where Arctic oil works. It is one hundred percent unburnable carbon.”
