No more giveaways for billionaires and Big Oil: Oil Change International Response to House passage of joint budget resolution

For immediate release

April 10, 2025

This budget would further harm the millions of working people who are facing rising costs and a potential recession thanks to Trump’s tariffs, while giving Big Oil more money to pollute and push us towards catastrophic climate change.

In response to the joint budget resolution passing the House today, Collin Rees, United States Campaign Manager at Oil Change International, said:

“Today, Trump and his party came one step closer to enacting a budget that cuts trillions from the programs working families depend on – like Medicare, Medicaid, and housing assistance – to boost tax cuts for billionaires and increase subsidies to Big Oil. This budget would further harm the millions of working people who are facing rising costs and a potential recession thanks to Trump’s tariffs, while giving Big Oil more money to pollute and push us towards catastrophic climate change.

“Fossil fuel companies already receive tens of billions of dollars per year in public subsidies, and that figure could skyrocket if this budget is allowed to proceed. Democrats need to step up, fight for working families, and stop this tax bill because lives depend on it.”
