BP to Fight OSHA Penalty
BP may have changed leadership, but its old habits continue. The company BP has said that its US division will contest the latest safety citations and a fine imposed by federal regulators over hazardous conditions at the company’s Texas City refinery.
Last month the Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited BP for one willful and four serious safety violations found during an inspection in January. OSHA also fined BP $92,000.
BP will contest the citation. “BP Products North America is contesting the alleged violations and the proposed penalties and abatement dates announced by OSHA after an inspection earlier this year at the BP Texas City refinery,” the company said in a statement.
You would think that at the Texas refinery at least BP would want to start cooperating with the regulators and get thinks back on track.
