In response to Trump’s brutal U.S. ICE Campaigns
For immediate release
In response to Trump’s brutal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement campaigns, Allie Rosenbluth, Oil Change International U.S. Campaign Manager, said:
“Trump’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is waging a brutal campaign of terror across the United States. The murder of Alex Jeffrey Pretti and Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, and the countless people who are killed behind closed doors, in federal detention facilities, is meant to instill fear and silence dissent. We will not be silent and we are not afraid.
“The same forces that militarize our streets also erode our democracy, put profits over the well being of people, and hurtle us closer towards climate catastrophe. Trump is trying to reshape the world order by escalating the darkest chapters of U.S. history: imperialism, racial terror, and state-sanctioned violence. We won’t let him succeed.
“There can be no ‘business as usual’ while ICE occupies neighborhoods, while our neighbors are kidnapped, while constitutional rights are trampled, while people are dragged into the snow at gunpoint. We are in solidarity with people from Minneapolis, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Maine and others across the United States resisting this occupation.
“We join the growing movement calling not just for the immediate withdrawal of ICE from our communities, a full investigation into the murders in Minneapolis, and for Congress to halt funding to this rogue agency, but for the total abolition of ICE as an agency that has repeatedly terrorized communities and shown blatant disregard for human life.
“It is not enough to demand a livable planet if justice, respect for human rights, and the right to protest is sacrificed along the way. We urge everyone to stand up against ICE’s abuses in Minneapolis by donating to the on-the-ground organizers, legal defense groups, and mutual aid funds that are fueling the resistance.
