Oil Change International Stands in Solidarity with Los Angeles Protests Against ICE
For immediate release
Oil Change International supports the brave Los Angeles residents who are standing up against ICE’s attempts to kidnap their friends, family, and community members.
In response to the Trump administration’s authoritarian escalation of force against Angelenos defending their neighbors against ICE raids and kidnappings, U.S. Campaign Manager Allie Rosenbluth said:
“We all deserve to live with safety and dignity, regardless of where we come from or our immigration status. Oil Change International supports the brave Los Angeles residents who are standing up against ICE’s attempts to kidnap their friends, family, and community members, and we condemn the Trump regime’s use of military force against them.
“Climate impacts are already forcing people to leave their homes and move across borders. Migration is a necessary form of adaptation to the climate crisis, and climate justice depends on creating compassionate, orderly, and safe migration pathways for displaced people.
“As a climate movement, we must resist the Trump administration’s efforts to scapegoat and criminalize displaced people and anyone who resists his agenda. Trump spreads fear and hatred to justify his power grabs and distract us from his attacks on our democracy, on our climate, and on working families’ ability to make ends meet. But we will remain focused on the true villains of the climate crisis and this current moment: The increasingly authoritarian Trump administration and its billionaire backers, including fossil fuel CEOs.
“Just a few months ago, LA communities were devastated by climate-fueled wildfires. Instead of wasting money and resources to send the National Guard to shoot rubber bullets at protestors and press, our government should be investing in helping Angelenos pick up the pieces and preventing future climate devastation. Governor Gavin Newsom must do everything in his power to protect LA community members, especially immigrants, from the Trump administration’s violent attacks.”
