While a reasonable new fee on oil to fund much needed transportation improvements may be a bridge too far for those who take their marching orders from Big Oil, we hope Congress might finally consider eliminating wasteful government spending in the form of fossil fuel subsidies at the very least.

The end of the fossil fuel era is inevitable. World leaders have a chance to catch up to a growing movement here in Paris, but they will have to spend the next two days working on behalf of people, not polluters.

The Keystone XL tar sands pipeline is now the first ever fossil fuel project rejected explicitly on climate grounds. It will not be the last.
TransCanada knows a rejection is just around the corner and made a desperate attempt at a political maneuver to avoid such an outcome. The President can end these games by rejecting the pipeline today. Our country, and our climate, would be better for it.
