A new definition of climate leadership has emerged, and the public outcry is deafening, even if thus far world leaders represented at GCAS seemed to strain to avoid hearing it.

As we approach the Global Climate Action Summit, hosted by Governor Brown later this year, the governor himself has an opportunity to show true leadership and announce new steps to limit fossil fuel extraction across the state. After all, the case for a managed phase out of fossil fuel production in California has now been clearly laid out by his own team.

When the next hurricane or wildfire or other climate impact comes, I hope to see as many journalists barging through the halls of government demanding answers from decision-makers as we see braving the elements reporting on the front lines. That's the #climatesilence that needs breaking.

A move by Sec. Zinke on behalf of President Trump exposes some truly dangerous views in the administration and should put Trump’s entire energy policy under further scrutiny, not to mention their scruples and care for our democracy.

Trump's energy week and health care bill have a lot in common. Both would redistribute wealth up from ordinary Americans to the wealthiest. Both would make people sick. Both would cost lives.
