Oil Change International responds to Donald Trump’s address to Congress

Donald Trump’s energy agenda poisons communities on the frontlines of fossil fuels and pushes us towards climate catastrophe while raising energy prices for working families.
In response to Trump’s comments on American energy during his address to Congress, Collin Rees, United States Campaign Manager at Oil Change International, said:
“Donald Trump’s energy agenda poisons communities on the frontlines of fossil fuels and pushes us towards climate catastrophe while raising energy prices for working families. His celebration of ‘drill, baby, drill’ isn’t an energy strategy – it’s a giveaway to his fossil fuel donors, who spent $445 million to influence Trump and Congress in the last election cycle.
“Trump’s false claims about the unviable Alaska gas project and his rollbacks of environmental protections don’t support American energy independence. These lies pad the pockets of the oil and gas CEOs who donated to Trump’s campaign while communities on the frontlines of extraction bear the true costs.
“The United States doesn’t need more giveaways to Trump’s fossil fuel donors. We need serious investment in a just transition and a phaseout of fossil fuels to create good jobs, lower energy bills for families, and address the climate crisis before it’s too late.”
